Fraternal and felon-free, as Masonry should be

January 7, 2012

Felon-free Masonry received an insightful missive in which the author, one intimately familiar with thrice convicted felon James Anderson “Jimmy” Foster’s pseudo-Masonic charade, expressed valid fears prior to leadership elections.

Our felon-free friend, fret not:  Fosterism is dead.  Gone are threats, intimidation, lies, frauds, and outright unconscionable behavior.  No more “take the power back.”  Gone is the quad.  Splintered is the band of felon followers.

Yes, a new Masonic day has dawned.

Leaders, please:

  • Take your positions serious enough to serve those who graciously chose you but not so serious as to drown in self-serving power.
  • Guide with compassion, diplomacy, and self and mutual respect.
  • Trust.  Earn it.  Don’t lose it.
  • Think before you speak or act.
  • Catch your breath.  Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it’s the hallmark of a smart man who knows brothers will shoulder the burdens.

Back to the aforementioned email message:  Brother, is it with great hope that none will again endure Foster’s (un and non) Masonic vision:

The current movement to elect a non-officer to the East in Hillsborough Lodge is the best illustration to date of what Jimmy Foster’s Masonry looks like.  It is a Fraternity where the lawless, unaccomplished, ignorant and incompetent rule.  It is a Fraternity where those who have sacrificed nothing pillage and destroy the character and honor of those who have sacrificed greatly. It is a Lodge where history is rewritten to honor dictators, felons and thieves.  It is a Fraternity where racism and hatred are all promoted as acceptable means of overturning the meaning of Freemasonry. It is a Fraternity where the basic tenets of Masonry, including faith, family, free speech and individual rights, have been rejected.  It is a Fraternity where our founding documents have been shredded and, with them, every Brother’s guaranteed liberties.

So mote it be.
